We are so lucky to have the best volunteers. Every year, when we elect and appoint new members to our Board of Directors, I am inspired by their excitement and willingness to serve. At our annual meeting on January 29, we welcomed five new board members: Maribeth Breen, Kimberly Hogan, Janet Porriello, Kevin Reich and Meghan Slater.
Maribeth Breen is the Library Director at Henry Carter Hull Library in Clinton. She has been a Library Director for 10 years and spent 20 years working as a Librarian. She is a board member and past president of the Clinton Education Foundation, a board member and past board chair of the Connecticut Library Consortium and a past regional representative and conference awards coordinator for the Connecticut Library Association.
Kimberly Hogan is Director of Finance and Administrative Services at Middlesex Community College. She will be chairing both the Middlesex United Way Women’s Initiative and the Human Resources Committee. Hogan is a member of the Board of Directors and the Development Committee for Gilead Community Services, Inc., a past chair of the Fund Distribution Committee for the Middlesex United Way Women’s Initiative, and a past agency chair for the Connecticut Employee’s Charitable Campaign.
Janet Porriello is Assistant Vice President for Staff Development at Seasons Federal Credit Union. She has more than 20 years of experience as a senior human resources professional in small to mid-sized businesses in a variety of industries. Porriello is a member of the Human Resource Association of Central Connecticut and the Society for Human Resource Management. She is a former fundraising committee chair for the Connecticut Chapter of the March of Dimes and a former member of the Professional Women’s Group Steering Committee for Dress for Success Hartford.
Kevin M. Reich, of East Hampton, is retired Assistant Superintendent of East Hampton Schools. Before serving as Assistant Superintendent, he served as Director of Curriculum and Administr
ative Services for 23 years and Business Manager for one year. He was also an elementary education teacher for 11 years. Reich is a member of East Hampton Rotary, serves on the Finance Board for St. Patrick Church in East Hampton, co-chairs the Flags over East Hampton Committee, and is vice chairperson of the East Hampton Town Council. He is past chair of the East Hampton Cemetery Board.
Meghan Slater is Executive Assistant at Wright-Pierce in Middletown. She has 10 years of experience in marketing and administrative support at the Northeast water, wastewater, and civil engineering firm. Slater is chair of the Middlesex United Way Young Leaders Society, of which she is a founding member. She has served on the Young Leaders Society Steering Committee since 2011 and served as Vice Chair in 2014. She also serves as chairperson of the Connecticut Section of the American Water Works Association Water for People Fundraising Committee, and she is a Troop Leader & Service Unit Cookie Manager with the Girl Scouts of Connecticut.
