SNAP Changes and What They Mean For You

SNAP Benefit Changes

Beginning November 1, 2025, several changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will go into effect as part of federal legislation (H.R. 1). These changes will impact some adults receiving SNAP, particularly those known as Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWDs).

Who May Be Affected:

  • Individuals between 18–64 years old
  • Can work
  • Are not living with a child under the age of 14
  • Do not meet one of the new exemptions or work requirements
  • Other changes may also affect:
  • Certain non-citizens receiving SNAP
  • Households where heating or utility costs impact SNAP benefit amounts (“Heat & Eat”)
  • SNAP-Ed nutrition education services
